Where to Go
Eastern Caribbean: Cruises to this area will usually cover the cities of Barbados, Antigua, Puerto Rico, St. Martin and St. Croix.
Western Caribbean: Cruises usually visit Mexico, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
Southern Caribbean: Cruises to this area will usually cover Barbados, Curacao, Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago.
What to Do
Of course, one of the biggest attractions of the Caribbean is the beaches. There are also plenty of other activities to do in the area, whether you spend time by the sea or further inland. In the western portion of the Caribbean, you can visit Costa Rico and hike through rain forests or visit an active volcano. In the eastern area, you can go snorkelling and swim past prehistoric boulders or go on a jeep safari expedition. For a more luxurious experience, you may like a ship that has a less amount of passengers and more personal service, such as those from Silversea Cruise Line. Some cruise lines may only offer fly cruises, where you will have to fly to a city in Florida before setting sail. Some of the main cities for disembarkation include Miami, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. Whilst some cruise lines operate out of the UK, such as Fred Olson, Cunard or P&O. For instance, Fred Olson Cruise Lines offers cruises directly from Southampton to Cuba and the Caribbean.
When to Go
It is important to note that while there may be year-round cruises to the Caribbean, there are times when it is safer to travel. For the best experience travelling to the Caribbean, we recommend avoiding hurricane season, which runs from June through November – if you need to travel during these dates consider a Cruise holiday to Dubai – equally luxurious. Although some areas of the Caribbean have been thought to be out of the hurricane belt, there have been instances when bad weather hit these islands. Travelling during hurricane season increases the chances that the ship may have to change course or abort one of the ports of call, which could change your itinerary. For a more enjoyable holiday, consider cruising to the Caribbean during the months of December through May.

The world economic crisis has meant that many of us are having to watch our bank balances more carefully than we used to. While looking for ways to cut back on costs, luxuries such as holidays abroad are often the first items to be cut out of the budget. However, this is not a very satisfactory solution, after all, everyone needs a break and a change of scenery from time to time!
The solution that my husband and I came up with, which would allow us to take our kids on holiday abroad without putting ourselves in the red, was to book a camping holiday instead of our traditional all-inclusive hotel break.
While all-inclusive hotel deals have been promoted as an excellent way to save money on family holidays, we often found that having food and drink available 24 hours a day meant that we felt tied to the hotel we were staying at, and as a result, didn’t experience the local ambience or cuisine. On the last all-inclusive break we went on, my hubby actually noted all the drinks and food we ordered at the hotel, and came to the conclusion that we’d get much more for our money on a self catering holiday. This was probably the main factor that convinced us that a camping holiday was the best option for our family.
We chose a camp-site which was close to several small villages, and hired a small, economical vehicles for the duration of our of stay. I think this is a important consideration if you want to take a family camping holiday abroad, as having transport means that you are self-reliant and can explore a greater area. Having thriving communities nearby also meant that we were able to shop around in the supermarkets and street markets. This was where we scoped out where the locals shop for bargains, and found excellent quality, low-priced produce, which gave us a genuine taste of the area. Getting out and about also allowed us to practice the speaking the lingo, something which is challenging, but we feel really adds value to a holiday.
With regards to entertainment costs, we found that we spent much less than we normally would do on a holiday, partly because the camp-site we stayed at had great facilities including play areas for the kids and a outdoor swimming pool. We also popped into the tourist information centre for the area, and got lots of brochures and guides, including some which detailed free to enter attractions. A combination of visiting the sights, taking long walks in the countryside and relaxing, we found plenty to do, and the kids never once complained of being bored!
If you are one of the many families who are finding that their pay-checks have to stretch further each and every month, but don’t want to abandon your annual holiday, why not take a leaf from our book and consider a camping trip abroad.? Considerably cheaper than booking into a hotel, camping is an experience that the whole family can enjoy.

My husband and I had taken a Keycamp holiday in the past and swore to have another French holiday, this time at the famed Cote’ de Azur. Everyone dreams of sipping wine in the French Riviera and we were no different.
Perfect for Families and Honeymooners
We chose Le Baume, a beach setting at the edge of the Esterel Forest. We were fortunate to have a mobile home and a deck with a barbeque grill. Our mobile home was cozy and air-conditioned.
Le Baume has many attractions such as:

ü Spa and gym
ü Watersports such as windsurfing, canoeing, dinghy sailing, kayaking and boat rowing
ü Sports such as tennis, basketball, tennis, football, volleyball and more.
Keycamp makes holidays convenient. You don’t even need to lug equipment when traveling. They have everything you need to enjoy the active lifestyle under one roof.
For us on a second honeymoon, the major attractions were horseback riding, restaurant dinners in a bistro-like setting and dancing.
All Keycamp sites assure you of modern conveniences and at Le Baume, it was no different. We had wi-fi, laundry services, grocery stores, restaurants and laundry services. In fact, we got to really enjoy our holiday because we had everything we needed within reach yet we were remote enough to really soak in the sun, the sea and the air.
Nearby Attractions
Anyone going to France will not be able to resist refreshing jaunts to nearby areas. To maximize the fun on our holiday in France, we visited the Marineland at Antibes, considered the best sea world in Europe and the Parc Zoologique in nearby Frejus. We also visited the French “Grand Canyon” overlooking the river Verdon.
The nearest beach is the Frejus Saint Raphael. We also got to sample the scents produced in the factories of Grasse, the perfume capital of France. Travelling from Le Baume was enjoyable whether you are overlooking St. Tropez and Cannes or viewing fields of lavender on the way to Grasse. The topography changes from beachfront to forests and colorful fields planted to flowers grown for their essential oil. Needless to say, the scent of the air is heavenly.
Getting There
Keycamp offers accommodations and special 20% discount if you book early. Bigger units can house whole families though you only get charged for couple accommodation. Travelling is made easy by Keycamp. In our case, we first chose our destinations because you can actually go from one campsite to another. We travelled by ferry from the U.K. and once in France, can travel by coach or Rail Europe. Those who are more familiar with Europe may find it more convenient to self-drive. In our case, we chose to avail of the transfer from parc to airport.
Too Many Routes, Too Little Time
We enjoyed a 5% discount from Keycamp in this French holiday. We certainly appreciate this gesture for repeat customers. We see a lot of children and teens having the time of their life here at Le Baume. I suppose the next time around, we won’t be a couple but a family of three.

With most Caribbean Cruises scheduling several formal dress nights during each sailing, you may find yourself wondering exactly what to wear. For men, it is easy – just buy a black tuxedo that fits and make sure he polishes his shoes – but what about women? Unless you attend formal occasions through work or business, you may find that your smart clothing is just not suitable.

Comfort
When I say comfort, I don’t mean that you should select jogging pants and a sweat-shirt for formal wear. Sleeveless and off the shoulder gowns are a hot choice for formal nights, but if you aren’t happy showing off that much skin, you should consider an alternative. A shawl or bolero jacket can be worn over the top of most designs to cover the arms, or you could choose a long-sleeved style, and stand out from the crowd.
Remember, if you are going to be hitching up your top or adjusting straps all night, you won’t be able to enjoy yourself and relax!
Fabric Selection
For dressy and formal occasions, the fabric, as well as the cut of a garment can really lift the look. Silks and velvets are always popular for evening wear, and for an extra touch of style, look out for designs which have a little sparkle – a few sequins or some beading can look fabulous, in moderation.
Classic Styles
One of the rules I follow when shopping for formal wear for Caribbean Cruises is to choose items which have a classic cut which will never go out of fashion. This means that even when I get home from my vacation, I’ll turn back to these items for other occasions and events.
Versatility
While an evening gown is a favourite choice for many women when cruising, you may find it more practical to buy separates which you can combine into a number of stylish outfits. For example, a long skirt could be teamed with a corset top, or a jacket and blouse, which could also be worn with dressy pants. Add a few accessories, and people won’t even be able to tell you are wearing the same items!
What Not to Wear as Formal Wear on Caribbean Cruises
While choosing what to wear for formal nights on Caribbean Cruises really comes down to your personal style and tastes, it is possible to make a fashion faux-pas. Why You Should Travel To Hong Kong For The New Year’s Parade
The New Year’s parade in Hong Kong is an event not to be missed! The city is dressed up with bright decorations and colorful lights for its biggest celebration of the year, and thousands pour into Hong Kong to take part in the festivities.
Winding along Hong Kong’s picturesque waterfront, the New Year’s parade is filled with colorful, lavishly decorated floats. Representatives from Hong Kong and countries all over the world sing, dance and play music. The songs of marching bands fill the air along the parade’s route as performers in bright costumes prance along the streets.
The forthcoming year (2006) is the Year of the Dog. No matter which zodiac animal is being celebrated for the coming year, there are always plenty of lions and dragons in the parade. Energetic dancers wearing giant lion heads leap in the air as long dragons held aloft by more than twenty people snake past the enthralled parade watchers.
The New Year’s parade is the biggest event of Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year celebration. Close to 300,000 people attend the parade and millions more watch it on television. In recent years the parade has taken place in the evening, featuring vivid, dazzling light displays.
The Lunar New Year is one of Hong Kong’s most important and well-loved holidays. Each year one of twelve different animals is celebrated, according to the Chinese zodiac. Many of the city’s towering skyscrapers are decked out in glittering lights for the holiday. Throughout the three-day celebration, dancers in colorful costumes perform lion and dragon dances in the streets, malls and hotel lobbies. Traditionally, people exchange small, red envelopes filled with money as gifts. Flower markets show up all over the city during the holiday, selling plants and flowers with special significance, and stores and restaurants display flowers meant to bring immortality and good luck.
The New Year celebration usually begins anywhere from January 21 to February 19, depending on the year. While the holiday officially lasts fifteen days, in Hong Kong it is celebrated for three days, with the New Year’s parade taking place on the first day. January 29, 2006 is the first day of the forthcoming new year.
The day after the New Year’s parade a brilliant display of fireworks lights up
Hong Kong’s famous Victoria Harbour. The fireworks can be viewed from the waterfront or from boats cruising the harbour. On the third day of the celebration a large horse race takes place at the Sha Tin racetrack. This lively race is a favorite for gamblers and horseracing enthusiasts.
It’s no wonder why so many travel to discover all that Hong Kong has to offer, with the vibrant fusion of ancient customs and modern day fun at one of the world’s biggest Chinese New Year celebrations.
